Gosh that is an amazing review of an amazing book (I taught it last fall and could hardly find anything to disagree with).
Speaking of innumeracy, Karakatsanis’s purported takedown of Christopher Lewis and Adaner Usmani’s excellent paper on the injustice of under-policing is as embarrassing as Vitale.

Cheers, Nicolas!
I remember reading Karakatsanis’s tweets about Lewis and Usmani back in the day. He was…not collegial.
Also, he complained multiple times that Harvard (and other elite universities) were extremely biased against defunding the police.
Some takes debunk themselves!
“the police officer who deprioritizes a drug law that the community (rightly) views as heavy-handed.”
Reminds me of the fantastic Bunny Colvin paper bag speech in The Wire.
